Undercover Boss TV show on CBS
This is a great show as I think it points out a big problem in corporate America today. The CEO, or whatever title, for the top dog/dogs in a company/business are way out of touch with their own business, policies and employees.
Maybe too much time enjoying life at the top, shuffling papers or feelings of being to good to step out of that fancy office with all the extravagant fixtures. Consequently, while management is patting themselves on the back, the business suffers.
A great example was the top guy for the Hooters restaurant chain finally getting a much needed ground level view of his business that he would never see esconced in his fancy executive office and meeting rooms. He discovered how hard his good employees work, how difficult some of the jobs are because he couldn't do them well enough to not be fired, and that one of the managers was making his employees play what he called, "Reindeer Games". What this manager made some of his empolyees do shocked the owner of the Hooters business so much that he found a way to get out to his car so he could call his home office and tell them they had a very serious management issue that had to be addressed as soon as possible.
I think the top management in most businesses today are collecting huge bonuses and do not have a clue about some very serious issues that drive away their best workers, money thrown away by negative business practices/policies and extremely poor customer relations.
When you have the chance watch the show and/or go to the website and form your own opinion. I'm sure you will find it very interesting.
