It took 30 years after coming home from Vietnam to realize I had a serious problem and that problem was PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). I was one of those soldiers who proudly thought the war had not affected me. After having 2 panic attacks that put me in the emergency room at a local hospital it was obvious something was wrong and I decided my combat experiences may be the root cause. At a V. A. Outpatient Clinic I was diagnosed and started to receive treatment for PTSD. Anxious to understand what had happened to me, I started looking for more information about it. A fellow veteran recommended "Recovering From The War by Patience H. C. Mason.

I can't say enough good things about this book for anyone suffering from the symptoms and effects of PTSD. My wife and I both have a better understanding of why I could go into a rage in an instant, my difficulty concentrating due to intrusive thoughts and memories, the nightmares about Vietnam, why I had so much trouble sleeping and why I would get up at night and walk around the house.

The treatment I'm receiving and this book have been a tremendous help. I would highly recommend this book to any  veteran.
