DEC. 1: Ran course of pop up targets, beat Skull, waiting for Cat.

DEC. 2: Medevac mechanic bit by scorpion. Saw gook with flashlight and had sniper fire at gook.

DEC. 3: Came in with bulldozers. Swam in bomb crater. Had barbecued steaks. Staged phony ground attack.

DEC. 4: Staged 2 phony ground attacks.

DEC. 5: Went out for 6 hours and came back in. They took the bulldozers into Phouc Vinh. Practice combat assault. Mad Minute.

DEC. 6: With bulldozers, had mad minute. Trucked into rear.

DEC. 7: QRF (Quick Reaction Force), rocket attack, on alert all night.

DEC. 8: Off QRF and on stand down.

DEC. 10: Trucked out to rubber plantation, Six and Johnson took patrol out, found M-16, M-72, gook pack.

DEC. 11: Blew up M-72, trucked in and back out.

DEC. 13: Came in and went back out.

DEC. 14: Payday. Came in and went back out.

DEC. 15: Rocket attack. Came in and went back out. Heard mortar rounds not too far away.

DEC. 16: At airport boarded plane for Song Be. Chinook to LZ Harry. Heard 3 gooks, called in artillery.

December 1969     Song Be     (December 16, 1969 - January 31, 1970)

DEC. 17: Found bunker complex.

DEC. 18: Called off combat assault.

DEC. 19: Log day.

DEC. 20: Combat assault, landed in gook garden, corn, beets, wheat, cucumbers, sugar cane. Gook shot at us, shot the duper back, called in cobra. Cat spotted a trip flare.

DEC. 21: Crossed blue, medevaced man from Skull, found 2 fighting positions. Had enemy movement twice. Johnson coughed and scared them away.

DEC. 22: Log day. Found 10 bunkers.

DEC. 23: Finished log. Put CS canisters in bunkers.

DEC. 24: Found VC training center with 37 bunkers, 7 classrooms. Christmas ceasefire in effect at 6:00.

DEC. 25: Christmas day. Combat assault. Got a new cherry.

DEC. 26: Log day. Lucky came out, Archie and Smith went in. Rain.

DEC. 27: Found trotter paved with bamboo to ride bikes on. Found trotters, fighting positions, bunkers.

DEC. 28: Found 24 bunkers, 2 mess halls, and urns.

DEC. 29: Log day. Got 2 new cherries. One is jerry Dietl.

DEC. 30: Put CS canisters in bunkers.

DEC. 31: Jay found bundle and a shitter, then 15 bunkers and hootches. Enemy movement after dark.
